The TV company was doing auditions at my local Street dance class so
I went along with some friends. Two weeks later we heard the news
that I was In the show. My parents couldn't quite believe
it and neither could I. It took a long long time to
sink in. We kept on expecting a call from the TV company
saying 'actually we've thought about it, and you're not very
good', but it never came!
All the children were put into groups for the show, my group was
group A. We had 3 weeks of filming during the school holiday in a
huge studio at a place called Elstree Studios. We all met Noel on
the first day and he is really lovely! ( I got a hug from him one
day when I wasn't feeling well). All of the studio people are SO SO SO
nice. Honestly, they really took care of us!
The 'set' as they call it, is huge and sooo cool!
Cameras pop out from behind panels, people hang up from the roof
for hours at a time to control the spotlights. You would be
amazed how many people it takes to film a show like this.
You see the credits at the end of the TV show. Well it is no way
near the truth. There must have been 200+ people working on this
show. That doesn't include security staff, paramedic(kind of
a doctor) ushers to get audience in and out of
seats.... There are people who sit there and pull the sides of
the studio back at the beginning of the show (all very high tech,
not!), there are comedians to entertain the audience during the breaks,
people who prepare 'goody bags' to put under the seats for the
audience...
The filming overall was 5 weeks. I was in three of those
weeks. In any one week, there are two groups of
children.
So filiming was:-
Week 1 Noel Group A and B
Two shows a day
Week 2 DnD Group B and
C Three shows a day (one in the morning, two in
the afternoon)
Week3 DnD & Noel Group A and
C Three shows a day , Dick and Dom in the
morning, two shows with Noel in the afternoon
Week 4 DnD Group A and B Three shows a day with Dick and Dom
Week 5 DnD Group B and C Three shows a day with Dick and Dom
Advert
The advert that is being shown at the moment was filmed in the
morning on the 29th August. We had to get up at 6AM to be on set
by 7AM. If you listen carefully you'll can heard I had a bit of a
blocked nose because of a little cold I had. Making the advert
was really really great too. None of us had done anything like it
before and the people doing it were really kind and patient. It
is just so funny we were often laughing.
The show was so so great to do, and it was really hard for the kids
and the parents. We stayed in a hotel during the week and you
really miss your friends and own bed after a bit. It's a chance of a
lifetime though and none of us were going to miss it for the world.
